RSPCA refurbishment 25/01/2012

Work has started on-site at the RSPCA in Abbey Street, Derby.  The two existing kennel blocks are being refurbished and updated to create insulated accommodation for the increasing number of animals waiting to be re-housed.

Simon Foote Architects enjoyed a great evening at the Forum for the Built Environment Awards in Leicester last week and were pleased to be placed first in the Derbyshire Scheme and team category for Shine ZC.

New life for hidden gem 04/10/2011

Work has started on the old Coach House, a hidden gem, located to the rear of 28 Ashbourne Road.  The refurbishment and renovation scheme will transform the Grade II listed Georgian building from it's current neglected state into office space with plenty of character.

Grow your own Home 03/08/2011

Landscape gardener, Rob Oversby, is adapting his manual skills to self-build the Simon Foote Architects-designed extension to his home on Vicarage Road, Mickleover, Derby.

Origially a bungalow, the building is being transformed into a three double-bedroom house with a full-length attic room upstairs, and living room, family room, kitchen and study on the ground floor.

Architect in the House 07/07/2011

For the third year running, we're supporting Shelter's innovative Architect in the House scheme.  The project matches homeowners with a RIBA chartered architect who gives up an hour of their time for a design consulation.  In exchange, the homeowner makes a suggested donation of £40 to Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity.


Warm welcome at Shine ZC 30/06/2011

Industry professionals, including developers, architects, engineers and Local Authority Planners, have been visiting the Shine ZC site in Derby this week as the project nears compeltion.

Scaffolding was taken down from three of the nine dwellings last week, giving a good indication of what the Midlands' first zero-carbon urban development will look like.

Fresh Look for Sound Bites 02/06/2011

Work on installing a new shop front has been completed for Sound Bites at 11 The Morledge.  The fresh, clean look enhances the appearance of the street and is attracting more business to the shop.  "It lets in more light and a direct view into the shop, a great showcase for the display of organic fruit and veg", the Nibbler Newsletter Issue 31.
