This 1930’s bungalow in Littleover, Derby, was purchased by our clients in 2016 with a view to converting the largely untouched inter-war house into a modern family home to accommodate them and their young family.

Internally, there had been very little modernisation over the years and with low ceilings and narrow corridors throughout, the space felt very dark and constricted. There had been a flat roof extension and conservatory added to the rear of the property some years ago to extend the living space.

Working closely with the family and looking at various options, SFA have utilised the existing structure of the bungalow and through the addition of an upper floor above part of the original bungalow; have designed a bright, spacious, contemporary home that utilises the sloped site to create a three tiered, 4+ bedroom house, with the main living space located at the lower garden level to allow uninterrupted access in to the garden beyond.

Planning has been submitted to Derby City Council for this scheme and we look forward to working with them throughout the planning process.
