Landscape gardener, Rob Oversby, is adapting his manual skills to self-build the Simon Foote Architects-designed extension to his home on Vicarage Road, Mickleover, Derby.

Origially a bungalow, the building is being transformed into a three double-bedroom house with a full-length attic room upstairs, and living room, family room, kitchen and study on the ground floor.

Since October last year, Rob has been working on the property, completing each task by himself and learning new skills along the way.  Use of traditional materials means the finished house will look as though it's always been there.

The scaffolding should be down by the end of August to reveal a perfectly formed family home - more photos then.
